Croydon Old Town

Our masterplan is a Supplementary Planning Document for Croydon Old Town that promotes heritage-led regeneration. It builds on the area's existing strengths as a place - its considerable yet often hidden heritage assets including the Minster, Old Palace School, and the Pumping Station; public spaces, and independent retail which includes Surrey Street Market - and is designed to preserve, enhance and celebrate its historic character; improve movement in, out and around the area; support a growing community with new homes and amenities; and improve the public realm and green spaces. As part of this work, three Conservation Area Appraisals and Management Plans have been developed for the conservation areas within Old Town supported by considerable public and stakeholder engagement.
