Occupying a prime position at the entrance to Wood Wharf as you arrive from Canary Wharf’s Montgomery Square, this layered red brick building is a hybrid. Originally earmarked to be 100% commercial instead it was designed and built as part hotel, part office, part health club. Functions are stacked and this is manifest in the design of the facade which shifts from use to use: louvers built into the facade for the health club, opening windows for the offices, wider transoms on the hotel floors to accommodate acoustic walls between rooms. The ground floor is open and welcoming providing a reception area for the hotel, and a restaurant and bar.
