David Amarasekera
Retired PartnerDavid specialised in the technical aspects of our work. He has led our Technical Team, and established standards that have underpinned our reputation in the craft of making buildings, for quality and attention to detail. A mentor to many of us, he advised architects across the practice on the best technical solutions.
In procurement and construction, he supported teams working on projects of every size and at each workstage. David also led our Construction and Design Management (CDM), advising on health and safety matters during the design and planning phases of construction. He has been our quality management champion, overseeing accreditation, training and project auditing across the practice. David has also been responsible for carrying out Principal Designer service on projects when appointed on behalf of the practice.
He was involved extensively in Bankside 123, the project that first brought us to the neighbourhood and he has continued to take an interest in the ongoing project of our own studios. He served as project partner for the refurbishment of 89 Southwark Street and the construction of 1-9 Farnham Place, which greatly expanded our footprint in Bankside. He has also led projects as diverse as new hotels in India to Paradise Street, a new urban block at the heart of the Liverpool One development.
David trained in Malawi and worked with Graham Morrison at YRM Architects, joining the practice in 1987.
